We Have a Soup Kitchen

The chill of fall is in the air, the leaves are falling faster than we can rake and the vegetable soup is on the stove!  You can’t have homemade beef vegetable soup without hot cornbread and homemade apple butter. 

What a wonderful time to open the “soup kitchen” and invite in some friends to share this simple supper.  Mr. B and I were joined by my business partner and her two little munchkins for a delightful evening.  We didn’t have to bring out the real china and silver to share time with friends. 

We need to not “sweat the small stuff” and just enjoy what we have with those we love.  Try it and see if you don’t get a blessing!

Pumpkin Party

My grandkids came to the office this afternoon.  Their mom had to attend a Parent / Teacher Conference and all three were excited to be at the office.  We had about an hour to paint a face on a pumpkin, make him some ears and decorate him with dots. 

It is the small things like staplers, hole punches, permanent markers and inked stampers that became the hit of the afternoon.  These kids had a blast just playing with things.

When we stop to think about it, it is usually the small things that bring us the most joy.  What joy when a friends just drops in, a love note from hubby is found on the counter top, a neighbor brings over hot rolls and a totally unplanned lunch becomes a time of laughter.

It is the small stuff that brings memories for years to come.
